For Christmas this year we changed things up a little bit. We stayed at our home for Christmas eve and then ventured down to Richfield on Christmas day to spend some time with both of our families. We had so much fun playing Santa. We made a ham with cheesy potatoes and salad. It was so good but we will be doing much simpler meals because we weren't able to eat the leftovers. We opened our christmas pajamas, that the pajama elves gave us and read The Grinch. We put Havyn to bed, watch some christmas movies, wrapped presents, filled stockings, and set up the SANTA gifts. It was seriously so much fun and I'm pretty sure I was more excited than Havyn for her gifts.
Christmas morning we woke up earlier, not super early but enough time to get things packed and ready to go, so we weren't traveling all day. When Havyn woke up we brought her out to see what Santa had brought her, right away she started playing with her blocks, she loved them. We opened gifts and I think Havyn was scarred to open anything because the whole month we told her no when she went over by the presents. But once the paper started to come off, all she wanted was to eat it. Go figure. She got spoiled, of course, lots of toys and books, some hair bows that clip in (she won't wear headbands anymore :'( and she got some clothes and things that she needed as well from mommy and daddy. I think that Christmas was a success. Ruston got some new shoes, a jacket and some other things. After Christmas we ordered ourselves a new iMac desktop computer. We love it and it was our Christmas together. I got some new running shoes and workout stuff, which I love since I've been trying to lose a few pounds. We really didn't spend a lot on each other because first off having a baby is expensive so we knew making it special for her was all that mattered. Although since we're almost done buying formula I've been adding a few things to my wish list for next year. haha.
We got ready and headed to Richfield in the afternoon. We first went to my house. My grandparents were there and so we got to open presents with them. Can I say that having the first grandchild is awesome, haha... jk. Havyn got spoiled so much by my grandparents and my parents. Seriously this child gets everything, more books, money, clothes, dolls. Lots of stuff. My parents gave a us a new pan set, which I was really happy since ours are old and crappy and everything burns to the bottom. Well not anymore, they are great! We also got a Christmas song book from my grandma and some money from my other grandparents. It was so great and we were so happy to see and spend time with everyone. My mom's kitchen was under construction since her and my dad got a new kitchen. My dad did everything and worked so hard on it... it's finally done now but let's just say the meals were real simple while we were home for Christmas. haha. It was great though because my mom and dad wanted some new dishes and silverware so my sister and her husband and Ruston and I went in on a new dish set and silverware to go with their new kitchen. We seriously had so much fun with my family and it was great to relax and see everyone.
We headed over to Ruston's mom and dad's house after we done visiting mine and opened up our Christmas there. Havyn once again got spoiled with a loud piano learning center, books and more clothes. You guys she made out like a bandit. SERIOUSLY! haha Ruston and I got a fryer, and stockpot and some temple bags. We got Ruston's mom and dad a gift card and an LDS book. We had fun seeing everyone while they were there. We sat and visited for a minute and then we headed up to the care center with my mom, sister and my aunt so visit my great-grandma and to wish her a Merry Christmas. After we were done there, we headed back to Ruston's to visit some more and then went to my house where we slept. We were home until Saturday and then came back home. It's always good to be home in your own bed after a long weekend and we had a lot of stuff to organize and yeah. It was a really good Christmas and it was so much fun having Havyn. She makes the holidays so much more enjoyable and magical.
New years, Ruston had the day off and it was so nice. It's crazy to think we are in 2013 now. I thought year 2000 was weird, well this is even more weird. Anyway, I officially started school and so I got started with that and I've come to realize I'm not an online student type. I prefer being in an actual classroom but oh well, it's something I can work on and become better at. You know what they say, you're goals are high enough if you've consider quitting. So I guess mine are because I want to quit every single day and go back to traditional college, meaning going to a classroom. ha
Every year when the new year comes, I don't feel like it's a fresh start but more a start to better myself on past things.
I hate calling them resolutions, to me it's automatic failure when you call it a resolution, ha!
Here are some of my goals for 2013!
1. spend less, save more and work hard
2. reading my scriptures and say my prayers more than I am now and be more spiritually uplifted
3. blog more!!! not just updates, more real life stuff. be inspired. be original and obviously I've failed already, ha!
4. travel, I will take at least one vacation this year, last year was lame and we didn't do a whole lot
5. lose a few extra baby/winter pounds
6. spend more time with my little family and make it count
7. spend more time do what I love and practicing some new and old hobbies that I love and miss
8. read more, I miss it dearly and I need to just find the time and catch up on my reading list
9. be better and journaling, writing things down for me and keep up on havyn's "baby book" that I've started
10. simplify: this is hard for me because I always do too much and I just want to make this year simple and make the special moments count instead of getting caught up in things that aren't so much important. it's the little things that make this life so wonderful and I want to remember them the most.
Most of all of what I want out of 2013 is to ENJOY it.
well there you have it my goals for 2013
We hope everyone had Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Also side note: I had a few questions on the wooden toys we got for Havyn, they are from Toys R Us and the brand is Imaginarium. I love them, they are so cute and unique!

Love the pinecone wreath! We need to get together soon.
